aloe vera for hair

Updated: Aug 7, 2021

Aloe vera is a plant that has thick leaves with a gel-like substance inside. It’s found all over the world, and many people grow their own. Aloe vera gel is cooling and soothing when applied to the skin, which is why it’s used to treat burns.

Aloe vera has been used for centuries for its healing properties. But it has another application besides its skin benefits: It can actually strengthen your hair and make your scalp healthier.

  • Aloe vera contains proteolytic enzymes that repair dead skin cells on the scalp. It acts like a conditioner that leaves your hair all smoother and shiny. It promotes hair growth, prevents itching on the scalp, reduces dandruff, and conditions your hair.

how to use aloe vera in hair

  • Mix equal quantity of aloe vera gel and extra virgin coconut oil. Apply and leave it overnight and wash it off in the morning. This will give you smooth, strong and bouncy hair.

Risks and warnings for aloe vera

Before using aloe vera topically, do a patch test. Rub a small bit of aloe vera on the inside of your wrist and wait up to two hours to see if your skin reacts in a negative way. This will let you know if you have an aloe sensitivity.
